Citizens to Save Our Republic Demands Transparency from No Labels on Presidential Candidate Selection Process

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Feb. 16, 2024 — Today, Citizens to Save Our Republic (CSOR), a bipartisan coalition dedicated to preserving the integrity of the United States' democratic processes, is calling on the political organization No Labels to reveal the names of its so-called Blue Ribbon Committee tasked with selecting their candidate for President of the United States.

No Labels positions itself as a commonsense force in American politics, merely advocating for the introduction of a third-party candidate in the upcoming presidential election. However, despite their democratic veneer, No Labels has operated with a concerning lack of transparency, particularly regarding the identities of both their funders and the members of the committee now tasked with selecting their presidential nominee.

"Since they began this process, No Labels has refused to show the American public even the most basic level of transparency," said Dick Gephardt, former Congressman and co-founder of CSOR. "If they are determined to keep their funding sources in the shadows, the very least they can do is reveal who sits on this Blue Ribbon Committee. The American people deserve to know who is making such consequential decisions on their behalf."

Critically, No Labels has not outlined a democratic process for selecting their nominee. There are no delegates, no convention, and no clear mechanism for input from the broader electorate. This opaque approach raises significant concerns about the legitimacy and motivations behind their candidate selection process.

"The cornerstone of American democracy is transparency and the active participation of its citizens," Gephardt continued. "A process that lacks both, as is the case with No Labels, undermines the democratic principles our country was founded on. It's time for No Labels to pull back the curtain and show the American people who are picking their candidates."

CSOR urges No Labels to heed this call for transparency and to consider the broader implications of their actions on the health and future of American democracy. The organization remains committed to safeguarding the nation's democratic system and ensuring that all political entities operate with the highest levels of integrity and openness.
