No Labels: It’s Time To Prioritize Bipartisan Legislative Efforts Over Presidential Ambitions
WASHINGTON, DC — Citizens to Save Our Republic (CSOR), a bipartisan coalition dedicated to preserving our Republic and defending our democracy, commends No Labels for pushing the House GOP on a border deal and urges No Labels to immediately redirect its focus from mounting a potential 2024 presidential ticket to supporting crucial bipartisan legislative efforts like this one.
Given No Labels’ inability to attract any candidates to their ballot line, or reach any of their ballot access goals, we believe the organization's extensive resources and efforts would be better spent promoting and supporting bipartisan legislative initiatives rather than pursuing a divisive third-party presidential campaign that will split the pro-democracy vote and deliver Donald Trump the White House.
"The pressing issues addressed by the Defending Borders, Defending Democracies Act require immediate and united action, not the further division of our political landscape," said Dick Gephardt, former Congressman and co-founder of CSOR. "We urge No Labels to cease its presidential campaign and instead focus its considerable influence and resources on supporting this vital bipartisan legislation. If they choose to continue their presidential bid, they should at a minimum sign our No Spoilers Pledge to prove to the American people that they intend to win the Presidency and not serve as a spoiler who will return Donald Trump to the White House. "
No Labels’ Problem Solvers Caucus, from its inception in 2017, has often been the last bastion of defense against Congressional dysfunction. The Problem Solvers’ efforts to find a compromise on the border and national security is of the highest national interest. Anything No Labels could do to promote that effort would be an enormous contribution to preserving self-government.
